Here it is, a new Kittenhood! What started out in 2010 as a means of promoting accessories I was making at the time has gone through many changes over the last six years. For a while, I focused on vintage-inspired fashion with pretty fit-and-flare dresses and chunky heels. At some point, the blog was a mix of DIY, personal style, and lifestyle. One year I really wanted to get good at food photography, so I shared recipes. You get the point: this blog has been as diverse and unpredictable as a real person, but the time has come to focus a little.
Don’t worry: you will still find DIY tutorials for your home, parties, wardrobe, and kitchen. You will still be able to discover artists and artisans that make amazing stuff. You will even find the occasional outfit post, although I’ll be spending less time in front of the camera. So, as a regular reader, you’ll probably still feel comfortable here. But then, then there’s the new stuff! Interviews with our favorite crafters, sharing insights, tips and thoughts on being an artist/small business owner. A wedding section, including tutorials and inspiration, but also stories of handmade wedding dresses from real brides (yes, that means you). There will be collections of tutorials and recipes to inspire you and make your crafting easier, and we’ll encourage you to submit your stuff for consideration.
Speaking of which: we’d love to connect on Instagram and Twitter! You can use the hashtag #ihavethisthingwithdiy freely, to share your projects inspired by our tutorials, your own projects and sources of inspiration, pretty much anything DIY, and of course, cats! We can’t get enough cat pictures, even in the year 2016.We want to form a community around this hashtag and get to know you from this other side of the screen. Plus you never know where new online friends can pop up from! We’re really excited about these changes and hope you are too! We’d love to get your feedback in the comments section or on social media (Facebook! Instagram! Pinterest! Twitter!) – whether it’s suggestions, critique or just plain hellos. Let’s get this started!
