Guest post: DIY Fabric CD Covers

Anca makes beautiful, ethereal jewelry, and blogs at Bo3miaOn her blog, you’ll find easy and pretty DIYs, travel pictures and, of course, any new products she makes. We met online and swapped jewelry quite a few times, during which time also we became friends. Anca lives in Munich and was kind enough to guest post for Kittenhood, while I’m away. Here’s her super cute tutorial – now I wanna make a mixtape cd! 🙂

I’m always looking for ways to make my packaging more appealing and pretty, be it for my clients or my friends. This is why I thought it would be nice to share with you this simple, but very cute tutorial for CD fabric covers. You can make them for your own use, or you could use them to wrap a carefully chosen CD or DVD for a dear one. I really hope you will enjoy this project.

You’ll need:

  • Pretty fabric
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread
  • Ribbon

First I cut out four pieces of fabric according to the dimensions of the cd plus 2.5 cm extra (1 inch). The final covers measure 14.5 x 19 cm.

I ironed the fabric to make it easier to work with and then I created the fringes on the edges of the fabric by pulling out threads from the fabric using a needle.

I pinned the fabric in the cover shape and sewn it using a sewing machine. You can also sew it by hand it will be just as pretty 🙂

I ironed the covers again, for a sharper look and ta-da, the covers are all done. All you need now are the gifts and a pretty ribbon.

  • This is amazing <3

  • I’m glad you like them! 🙂
I bought the fabrics from a German online shop: basteln-de.buttinette.com
