Kara and Brit Smith are two sisters from L.A., formed in an artistic environment, and they now design for Elkin Collection. They wanted to create clothes that can be worn during the day as well as at night, so they were deeply influenced by lingerie. Literature and late nights are also sources of inspiration for the duo, and their line is described as complex and feminine.
For the spring-summer 2012 collection, Elkin chose a farm theme. Using piglets, lambs, cats and other farm animals as props, the models are dressed in refreshing cotton pieces with simple prints. Here and there, you can find some ultra-modern details, such as a peplum or cutouts at the waistline. You will see lovely button-up shirts and dresses, very soft, muted colors, and short lengths.
