Easy gingerbread recipe - Kittenhood

Gingerbread is so classically Christmas, I can’t even. You might already know that homemade tastes better, but did you know it’s really easy to make, too? Just as long as you have cinnamon at hand, you can probably make amazingly delicious gingerbread. Unfortunately, there’s no ginger inside, it’s been either lost in translation or never had been part of the equation. My mom was kind enough to provide her own recipe for this, although I may have pinched it a little here and there, since I can never stick to a tried-and-true recipe (I always want to know what would happen if… or I decide to save a trip to store and replace one thing for another). But this one is good gingerbread, yo. Try for yourself!

Easy gingerbread
  1. 600g flour
  2. 300g brown sugar
  3. 100g butter
  4. 1 teaspoon bicarbonate
  5. 200 g honey
  6. 3 eggs
  7. 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  1. Mix everything together in a large bowl, then knead the dough until smooth. Let it cool in the fridge for a few hours.
  2. Roll the dough out, until it’s a bit less than 1 cm thick. Cut it with cookie cutters. Place the gingerbread in a tray lined with baking paper, not too close together. Bake for about 15-20 minutes at 160°C (320°F).

Aaah! I love the cars–and the tripod tree! Mine is set up nearly permanently anyways, might as well put lights on it!

    • Exactly! I’ve been meaning to do this for a couple of years, but finally got it right now.
