Let’s talk Birkenstock, the controversial “ugly shoes”. They’re an acquired taste, aren’t they? I used to find them appalling myself… But after seeing so many good outfits online, last year I caved and got my own. I’m so glad I did, because I didn’t want to wear anything else for the rest of the summer. Now it’s time to take them out of hibernation again, and here are some inspiration looks if you plan on doing the same:
Polienne has these very delicate, three-buckled Birks in animal print, which create a nice contrast against the pale lace skirt and the casual t-shirt. An excellent idea for summer, if you ask me.
If boho is your middle name, take cue from these Fashion Week goers who went all in with ankle bracelets, rhinestones, ripped jeans and ethnic prints. Some festival inspiration, if you will.
My Dubio‘s look is the epitome of minimalism. She paired black Birks with pants, a silky tank and a blazer in the same color, which is not only comfortable, but chic as well.
I’ve posted this Sartorialist snap before, that’s how much I love it. It’s the perfect vacation outfit: white sundress, comfortable shoes, and that bandana tied at the ankle like she had nowhere else to put it.
This strapless mini dress was the perfect little number for me last year in Portugal. And I may have walked 500 miles in those shoes. Easy, peasy.
Here’s the thing about any trend: if it exists, Leandra Medine has probably already worn it. And she did it flawlessly, with a crisp white outfit paired with a navy blazer and golden jewelry.
This is some brilliant summer layering on We Wore What! That maxi dress/top looks awesome over skinny jeans, and the tan color of the accessories keeps them neutral enough to let the jewelry shine.
Who knew normcore could look this good? Victoria wears all the pieces that could make an outfit boring, yet she manages to keep it fresh and young, like this is the first time someone’s worn a white shirt with jeans. Love it!
Mix those trends like there’s no tomorrow! Not just Birks, but golden ones! And not just minimalism, but stripes and colors and all the things that make you smile (as spotted on A Pinch of Lovely).
Forget about heels even when you opt for longer hemlines. This look from Fashion Vibe features all white elements such as a midi dress and trench coat, and of course Birks.
